DANIEL FORMAL HAS SUCCESS AT SUPERKARTS! USA SUPERNATIONALS

11-11-23

November 23, 2011 – Heading to Las Vegas, Nevada for his first ever SuperKarts! USA (SKUSA) SuperNationals, Floridian pilot Daniel Formal was one of the favorites in the TaG Senior division. Competing with the Intrepid North America team and utilizing P1 Engines power, Formal rebounded from a disappointing qualifying effort to take home a second place podium result in the biggest event of the year against a host of international drivers.

“This was my first ever SuperNats and I could not have asked for anything more,” explained Formal post event. “The competition here was incredible and the racing was close and tight. The officials did a great job in letting us race and I am happy to add another podium finish to my resume.”

Friday would see a morning warm-up for the TaG Senior drivers followed by the all-important qualifying session and then the first heat. Looking to garner the pole position, Formal had tough qualifying run. With an incident after only his third timed lap, the Florida resident was only able to turn the 19th quickest time in the field of more than 80 drivers. Disappointed with the result, Formal vowed to make up for it in the heat races.

With the heat race flight format in effect, drivers would compete in three heat events garnering points for Super Sunday’s main event starting position. Classified in heat group A, Formal had a trio of great results including a fourth, second and a victory after starting in the ninth position for all races. After the points were calculated, Formal would start outside row two for Sunday’s final.

A slight concern was raised in Sunday morning’s warm-up session as Formal would be classified just inside the top twenty. Working with Advanced Karting, Intrepid North America and P1 Engines, the crew went back to work to give the multi-time champion the best kart possible for the main event.

Starting in the fourth position, Formal managed to get a decent start and hang with the lead quartet of drivers. Dropping back to ninth after an on track incident, Formal began to press forward swapping positions early and often. Settled into a rhythm that would see him turn some consistent race laps, Formal utilized his natural skills and abilities to drive to an impressive second place result.

Formal continued, “This gives me a lot of confidence and momentum heading into 2012 and I can’t wait to get back in the seat.”

Daniel Formal would like to thank his 2011 partners including: Intrepid North America, Advanced Karting, Brett King Design, K1 RaceGear, P1 Engines, Supertune USA, and DDF Engines.
