DANIEL FORMAL BACK ON TRACK AND READY FOR PAN AMERICAN CHALLENGE
September 13, 2011 – After suffering a broken knuckle and being sidelined with a cast for nearly a month, Floridian pilot Daniel Formal returned to the seat of his Advanced Karting prepared Birel chassis at this past weekend’s South Florida Rotax Max Challenge event. Looking like he had not missed a beat, Formal went on to claim the pole position, heat race win and main event victory at the Homestead Karting Complex on the grounds of the Homestead Miami Speedway.
“I am happy to be back in the seat and I feel more ready than ever,” expressed Formal. “Being out of the kart for three weeks was hard for me and all I wanted to do was be driving. Though I felt I was ready to race a week ago, it was wise for me to stay out of the seat and completely heal my hand and be ready for the last quarter of the season.”
Formal, who has been a force for race wins and championships since he ever sat in a kart, will now shift his focus to the 2011 Rotax Pan American Challenge Finale at New Castle Motorsports Park. Taking place on the September 22 – 25th weekend, Formal will look to become the second annual Rotax Senior champion in the Pan American program.
With the race winner receiving an invitation to join Team USA at the Rotax Grand Finals at Al-Ain Raceway in the United Arab Emirates later this year, Formal will be looking to stand atop the podium in what is sure to be a tight and fierce battle.
Formal continued, “Though I was out of the kart, I was in the gym staying in the best shape possible. Now that I am completely healed, I am hitting the gym hard to ensure that I am mentally and physically prepared. I am looking forward to getting to Indiana and begin testing for this race. I love the New Castle track layout and facility, and it would be great to score the win in my first national event back from my injury.”
